Coming home should mean bringing something home with you.
I left Jamaica when I was 9 and came back when I was 40 with all the skills I learned in healthcare, specifically around elder care, caregiving, communities, technology and training.
Jamaica is such a beautiful place to age gracefully and in a very functional way.
Blue Lotus symbolizes giving people their flowers while they're still here.
I hope to build a culture that attracts like-minded individuals with one mission:
Professional care coordination with a familiar lifestyle.
Blue Lotus is functional retirement.
We spend so much time preparing to return.
Where will we live?
How will we get around?
What will we eat?
How will we take care of our parents?
How will we take care of ourselves?
But healthcare has to be part of that plan too.
Because when you come home, you should know where to start.
You should be able to get the information you need, understand your health baseline, access the right services, and stay connected to the people involved in your care.
That is why I founded Blue Lotus Jamaica.
I'm bringing the experience I gained abroad back to the place where I started.
Blue Lotus is being built around the way healthcare actually happens in Jamaica: the people, the providers, the diagnostics, the logistics and the families trying to keep everything connected.
For returning guests
That means making healthcare part of coming home.
For families here
It means creating stronger connections between health information, providers and the people involved in care.
For Jamaicans abroad
It means greater visibility into what is happening with the people they love at home.
Because sending money home can pay for care.
But money cannot give you visibility into that care.
I came back to Jamaica with more than a desire to live here.
I came back with something to build.
